If your baby has been infected with TB, it’s important to find out how he developed the disease, even if he doesn’t have symptoms. So other family members might need to be tested for TB. If they test positive, even if they don’t have symptoms, they will need treatment.

Tuberculosis is treatable. Your child will be treated with a combination of medicines, taken as a single tablet, for at least six months, as it takes that long for the bacteria to die. Your doctor will let you know how to give the medicine or tablet to your child.

Give the medicine to your baby every single day. Do not stop giving the medicine because he feels better. If he stops the course of treatment midway, he will have to start afresh. You will need to take your child to the doctor regularly for check-ups during the course of treatment.
