Moms should breastfeed frequently to help their breast milk ‘come in’ and to ensure plenty of breast milk. It’s important to breastfeed your baby whenever the baby wants. The more you breastfeed the more milk you make. Breast milk is the only food a baby needs for the first six months – do not give your baby any other water or other liquids/fluids to your baby during the first days after birth or for the first six months. They are not necessary and are dangerous for your new born.
