Breastfeeding is important because it encourages lots of physical connection with the mother and builds emotional security and closeness to mother that is so important to a child’s development.

Breastfeeding offers much more than nutritional and immunological advantages. If you can’t breastfeed your baby, make sure that you still use the feeding time as a time to bond and connect with your baby – by holding them close, looking at them and talking to them while you are feeding them. Do this for as long as possible. Talking to your children from birth builds relationship, self-esteem and is good for brain development.
